If you have come to see me because you are pregnant, we will make you an appointment with Dr Dianne Hannaford after your initial consultation with me. Dr Hannaford is a highly-regarded Canberra GP with a wealth of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology who works with me to look after your antenatal care. We work together so you have 2 doctors caring for you whose combined expertise, knowledge, experience and professional network are consistently working towards minimising risks to you and your baby.
We recommend you & your family be registered with Medicare Safety Net. If registered, once you & your family reach the relevant Safety Net threshold, you may be eligible to be paid the Medicare benefit and 80% of the out of pocket costs or the benefit cap for eligible out of hospital Medicare Benefit Schedule services for the rest of the calendar year.
We also recommend you contact Calvary John James Hospital Maternity Services on 02 6281 8730 to arrange attendance at Birth & Parenting/Antenatal Classes that are integrated with tours of the service, Anaesthetic Workshops that address pain relief in childbirth & Breast Feeding Workshops. You can access the hospital’s maternity patient information.
There is also general online information on healthy eating when you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, foods to avoid when pregnant, exercise during pregnancy , physiotherapy, emotional health during pregnancy and of new parents, breastfeeding, immunisation & cord blood banking.
